]]> <![CDATA[SES Parent Notification Letter]]> http://www.harlanfalcons.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=38176 http://www.harlanfalcons.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=38176 Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is pleased to inform you that your child may be eligible to receive FREE tutoring services next school year, under No Child Left Behind. The No Child Left Behind Act provides selected students with the opportunity to receive additional tutorial assistance known as Supplemental Educational Services (SES). SES are FREE tutoring services that must be offered to low‐income children who attend a Title I school that is in its second year of “school improvement status.” These
services are offered before or after school, or on Saturdays, by organizations that are approved by the Illinois State Board of Education.
At the beginning of the 2010‐2011 school year, parents of eligible students will have the opportunity to select the tutoring program that is best suited for their child(ren). Most tutoring programs will begin in October and November of 2010. Additional SES information will be made available through your child’s school at the beginning
of the 2010‐2011 school year.
There is often a high demand for SES tutoring service! SES eligibility is based upon low‐income status, therefore parents must be sure to complete and return the SES registration form, along with the FRM (Free Reduced Meal) application by the deadline to the school in order to qualify.
The FRM application will be used to verify low‐income status only and will not be shared with SES providers or others. If CPS exceeds its enrollment limit for SES, priority will be given to students who performed the lowest on
the Illinois Standardized Assessment Test (ISAT) 2009‐2010.
We strongly encourage you and your child(ren) to take advantage of this additional, FREE academic support.

Instructions

1. Open the form in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat (or PDF Reader/Writer)
2. Complete the information requested
3. Print the document
4. Sign the document
5. Have an Administrator sign the document
6. Place the document in the respective mailbox.
7. Send an email or telephone confirmation that steps 1-7 have been completed
