Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year. My name is Kai Jones, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Harlan Community Academy. As the leader of this great school, I am committed to ensuring your student is prepared for college and career success.
The success of your student is my top priority. To best support all students our focus this school year will be providing students with:
A high quality rigorous instruction
Structured academic and social emotional learning supports that meets the needs of the whole child
Community partners that will support students inside and outside of the classroom
It is my belief that by being intentional about supporting students they will excel academically, feel safe, valued, loved, and supported in our school community.
We cannot do this work without you; your role as a parent is critical for the success of our students, and I encourage you to do daily academic check-ins with your child. There is so much power in asking the question, “What did you learn today?” In addition, stay connected with your students by checking their grades and attendance weekly.
Lastly, but most importantly, I understand students and families experience tough times. It is important to me that the school knows so we can support students and families.
